Speeches & Articles

A major component of Dui Hua’s outreach is to share information on human rights in China with a range of audiences. To achieve this goal, foundation staff members commit to a number of speaking engagements in the United States and abroad. Dui Hua staff have spoken at universities, think tanks, global and public affairs organizations, high schools, and other institutions dedicated to spreading awareness about global issues.

These speeches and presentations build support for the foundation while inspiring discussion and action on issues of human rights in China. Executive Director John Kamm's remarks before the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in June 2007 centered on China's international human rights image in the run-up to the 2008 Olympic Games. In his speech "Engaging China on Human Rights" (PDF), given in 2004 to the Brookings Institute in Washington, DC, Kamm addressed the importance of maintaining bilateral talks with China in order to continue to make progress in human rights.

In addition, Kamm has submitted commentaries on human rights to several publications, including an op-ed article for the South China Morning Post on Article 23 in Hong Kong that informed the debate on this significant issue.
